As you may know, Sam Fury is NOT my real name…

I use it as an alias for a two main reasons:

1. Imposter syndrome… at least at the start. By creating an “alter-ego” I gave myself permission to create.

2. Anonymity. And this is the reason I still use it today.

I have, however, started using my real face.

Honestly, it’s just easier and probably better for marketing.

So how did I come up with the name Sam Fury?

First, the initials.

Survival Fitness > SF (which is also why my other project is called SF Nonfiction Books, and the company is called SF Initiatives).

An old Simpsons episode led me to the idea of the name.

There’s an episode where Homer changes his name to Max Power. Nice and punchy. Just three syllables.

Fury: Even before I had thought of the Survival Fitness Plan, there was this guy I used to follow for bodyweight exercises. I think his name was Mat Fury. So I stole the Fury part.

As for Sam… I actually don’t know why I chose it. Probably I tried a bunch of different options and Sam fit the best.

I actually used some random Indian guys face (with his permission) for years at the start. 

Then when I first discovered AI image generation, a few years ago, I decided to change it up to look a little more like me (although I admit the AI Sam Fury is better looking, and I didn’t mind to keep that). 

I typed in something like:

30-something male, half Colombian, half Chinese-Malay, athletic.

It spit out a face and that became the visual.
