Do you love climbing but are worried about getting injured?

Don't be!

Here’s how to stay safe while practicing your bouldering skills.

Warm Up

Bouldering is a style of climbing with no ropes involved. Therefore you have to become more technical as you use various movements to climb and maintain safety.

How do you do that?

Before you start, warm up and perform simple exercises like stretching to condition your body and lower the risk of strains and injuries.

Use a Crash Mat

What is a crash mat exactly, and why would you need one?

It is used as a landing pad in case you fall, preventing you from hitting the ground too hard, and ensuring your safety.

There are portable mats that you may bring with you when you start going outdoors. It is essential, especially if you land incorrectly. You might still sustain injuries, but the risk of severe ones is reduced.

Stay Low

Staying low and not climbing too high is one way to protect yourself.

The climb is easy when bouldering, but you should be mindful of the dangers. When you step beyond your safe zone, you run a higher risk of getting hurt.

The worst outcome of falling from a height is death rather than serious injuries.

Conclusion

Always remember to train progressively when you start an interest.

If you choose to take shortcuts, there is a higher chance of getting hurt, and you won't be as good at what you do. You'll see improvements if you can learn to be patient with yourself.
