How to Hide in the Woods

In this article you will discover 3 tips for hiding in the forest so you don’t get captured.

Imagine you have been abducted…

Thanks to your escape and evasion skills you manage to break free.

But alas, you were being held in the middle of the woods, and now you’re being hunted.

This situation is exactly why you need to learn how to hide in the woods.

How to Hide in the Woods Vlog

Blend In

Take a tip from the army and use camouflage tactics to help you blend into your environment.

Consider sight, smell, and hearing.

For example, with sight, remove clothing that will make you stand out, such as bright colors.

Also, remove things that shine in the sun’s reflection such as jewelry.

To minimize noise, be careful of where your step and what you have on you that jingles when moving around, such as coins in your pocket.

And for smell, be aware that the smell of smoke and food can travel a long way and may expose your location. It is a good idea to eat raw as opposed to starting a fire.

Up a Tree

Climbing a tree can be a good option for hiding in the woods.

Few people are taught to look up, and even fewer are taught to do so on a regular basis.

Of course, if you do get seen you don’t really have anywhere to go, so you have to weigh up your chances depending on the situation.

I suppose you could jump on the person, hoping that your impact will knock him out, or at least injure him, giving you a chance to escape.

Bury Yourself

Burying yourself is an effective method that has been used in the past, particularly during wars.

Think of the Viet Cong.

They had a massive tunnel system and seemed to appear and disappear out of nowhere.

You don't need to dig a tunnel system, but you can adapt the concept by digging a small hole and burying yourself in it.

You can then cover it with leaves to better conceal yourself.

The disadvantage of this option is that it takes time.

Conclusion

Wilderness survival is hard enough on its own, let alone when someone is hunting you.

That’s why you need to learn evasive wilderness survival.
