A strong grip is extremely important for rock climbing, and squeezes are one exercise that will improve this.


You don’t even need any special equipment. Just use a tennis ball or something else that will give a bit of resistance as you squeeze it.


Do 50 reps every day and increase as your strength improves.

Squats

One important climbing principle is to climb with your legs rather than your arms, so it makes sense to strengthen your legs.


Squats are ideal. There are numerous versions to pick from, and you can add weight to increase difficulty.

Pull-ups

Pull-ups are great since you often have to pull yourself up while climbing.


They are actually one of my favorite bodyweight exercises. Pull-ups can also be used to enhance your grip and as a whole-body conditioning workout.
