Are they your ‘gym’ clothes or what you wear out and about?

Find out what I wear and why in this article.

Training Clothes Vlog

Everyday Clothes

People dress differently depending on what they are training for, and when it comes to self-defense training, gym clothes are the first thing that comes to mind.

But what if you get caught in a fight while wearing your regular clothes or office attire, such as high heels or a skirt?

That is why you should train in clothing similar to what you wear day to day and when out and about.

Alternatively, you can change what you wear day to day or when going out so it will be easier to fight or run if needed.

Stepping Out Clothes

When you are out doing extra-curricular activities such as going to a bar with a friend or going out to dinner, it is understandable that you will want to dress up a little.

Unfortunately, places like clubs and bars are often where you are most likely to get into a fight.

Again, you have two choices. Either you need to train in the clothes you like to wear out every now and again, or you can alter what you wear to something more ‘sensible’ so you can run or fight if needed.

Improvised Weapons

Being able to improvise is a valuable skill to have in self-defense because it allows you to use anything around you as a weapon to defend yourself.

For example, many of us carry our phones with us everywhere we go, so it makes sense to be able to use them as a weapon if needed.

A pen is another great example. It is easy to carry and makes a great self-defense tool if you know how to use it.

Conclusion

Most of the time it is fine to dress in your ‘gym clothes’ when training. But every now and again it is a good idea to train in the clothes you are most likely to be wearing if you get into trouble.
