The first is from the godfather of martial arts, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, which was the first mixed martial arts to be invented.

It is one of my top picks because it is great for both self-defense and fitness. It is not widely recognized in some areas, but it is beneficial to acquire tactics such as how to defend yourself against weapons and the like.

Krav Maga

Krav Maga is another type of martial art that is employed in the military and focuses mostly on self-defense.

It includes excellent strategies that are far too powerful as if you were in a life-or-death scenario. With that said, it may be too effective that you can obstruct your freedom and get stopped over by the cops.


Mixed martial arts is the best martial art to learn for self-defense.

Many individuals may think that this is not practical, but it is.

This is a combination of Brazilian jiujitsu and Muay Thai that focuses on pure striking and is excellent for fitness. The only disadvantage is that there are no ground aspect techniques, but because it is a mixture of several types of martial arts, you gain expertise in fighting from various perspectives.


Lastly, training in self-defense frequently improves your ability and teaches you different techniques that may be employed on a daily basis, as well as your training routine.
