You won’t get time to square up in the street.
That idea alone breaks most people’s self-defense training.
Combat sports teach structure, distance, and readiness.
Real violence rarely offers any of that. Attacks happen suddenly, from bad positions, when your mind and body are not prepared.
That is why reaction training matters.
What Reaction Training Really Is
Reaction training is learning to respond immediately to threat.
Not to think. Not to hesitate.
To move.
This kind of training builds the habit of acting under stress. It conditions your body to choose movement instead of freezing. That alone can decide the outcome.
In self-defense, action beats inaction 100% of the time.
Move Or Die
“Move or die” is not motivation. It’s a rule.
When violence starts, staying still is the worst option.
Movement creates opportunity. It buys time. It creates space. It gives you a chance to escape.
Every SFP response fits into one of two strategies:
Hit and run.
Blitzkrieg.
Both require immediate reaction. Neither works if you freeze.
How To Train It
The new SFP is built around solo training so more people can access it safely.
Solo work still develops reaction, speed, and decisiveness, but if you can train with a partner, reaction training becomes even stronger.
Unpredictable timing and pressure expose hesitation fast. That feedback is valuable.
Start slow. Build control. Increase speed only when safety and accuracy are there.
The Point
Self-defense is not about perfect technique. It’s about responding when you don’t want to, when you’re not ready, and when it matters.
Train to move.
Because when it counts, hesitation is the real danger.
