But should you cover your webcam as well?
Read on to find out.
Many people don’t realize this, but most webcams are very easy to hack.
The average person might not have a clue, but even amateur hackers can do this with ease.
And you may not care because you think that there is nothing to see while you are sitting there working on your laptop.
But even when your computer is in sleep mode, the camera can be remotely activated. That means you can be seen and recorded even when you think your computer is inactive.
This brings us to the second point.
Thanks to your exposed webcam, you may be the target of people filming you remotely.
And whatever they film can then be used against you, such as posting unwanted images on social media, or threatening you with extortion.
This type of thing doesn’t seem very common because it is not reported on the news every day, but if it does happen to you, you will be sorry you didn’t take the simple steps needed to avoid it.
Can someone spy on you through your laptop?
YES!
How can you prevent someone from doing it?
The simplest and extremely effective thing you can do is grab a piece of tape and cover up your webcam.
With such a simple solution, why wouldn’t you do it?
Do you want to tape it up and cover your camera, or do you want to be taped?
Take your pick.
Hopefully after reading this you have come to the conclusion that, yes, you should cover your webcam.
But don’t stop there. This advice applies to all your devices with cameras. Tablets, computers, laptops, etc.
Online security is not something to be taken lightly.
