One of the best things you can do to increase your chances of surviving in the wild is to gain skills.
Gaining knowledge and training in how to survive in the wilderness will help you in acquiring the necessary survival skills, such as how to construct a fire, build a shelter, find water, and so on.
Before venturing out you should always let someone know what you are doing and where you will be.
This is an extremely important safety backup.
Also give them instructions for what to do if you do not come back in time, such as calling the emergency services if you don’t check within 2 days of your proposed finish time.
When you are in a survival situation, you can have all the survival skills in the world, but without the will to live your chances are slim.
To create a strong will to live, consider the most precious things in your life and use them to motivate you.
It could be your family, friends, work, a significant other, a pet, your religion, etc.
Without a strong will to live, you’re more likely to give up and perish.
Being able to survive in the wild is more than just knowing the skills, but knowing the skills is still very important.
