Here are 3 common deadly mistakes people make and how you can avoid them!
It is almost always better to go on your wilderness adventure with others, but it is understandable that many people like to do it alone.
If you decide to go alone, always let someone know where you are going and what you plan to do. This way, if you don’t ‘check in’ for a while, that person will be able to track where you should be and tell emergency services.
Actually, even when you’re not going alone you should tell someone your plans. Groups of people can get lost too!
Plants are one of the easiest ways to find nutrients in a wilderness survival situation IF you know what you’re doing.
Choosing the wrong plants can make you seriously ill and may even kill you!
It is important to do some research on the place you are visiting and/or to get a guidebook on edible plants. You must also learn how to do the edibility test.
Many people make mistakes because they start too late.
Starting your journey too late in the day may mean you won't be able to do the things that are important if you do become lost in the woods such as making a shelter, finding food and water, etc.
So those are the three most common survival mistakes: going solo, eating plants, and starting too late.
In conclusion, the best way to avoid all of them is to be prepared.
